Don’t be Too Different (C193-190506-DNR)

The 1-Hour Learning and Dinner Meeting provides an opportunity to learn about Overcoming the self-inflicted hurdles that block creativity

Registration closing on Wednesday, May 01, 2019

Creativity is all about creating new connections between old ideas, objects & things. Connections fuel creativity, that seems not too difficult as there’s a variety of proven methodologies to mix and match ideas and objects. Nevertheless, not all of the results generated by these processes are of any use; running shoe that does double duty as a Didgeridoo is definitely a ‘creative’ product – but doubtfully there’s much of a market for this particular cross trainer.

The Creativity problem is two-fold: How can we generate new ideas when we need them? and, how do we overcome our reluctance to accept the risk of wasted time, effort and resources that is part and parcel of the creative process?

For us to truly create and contribute to the world, we have to be able to connect countless dots, to cross-pollinate ideas from a wealth of disciplines, to combine and recombine these pieces and build new castles.

1 – The obstacles we place in front of new ideas – What exactly prompts someone to state prior to a session on Creativity, “Don’t be too different!” – and what can we do to mitigate these concerns.

2 – How to create new ideas ‘The Scamper Process’

3 - How to create new ideas ‘Morphological Analysis’
