Facilitate your way to Project Success (C193-181203-DNR)

MONDAY MEETING AGENDA

In recent times, lots of case studies have come to light, where project failures were directly connected to poor team engagement, low ability to resolve or come to an agreement on an issue at the right time. Through this training Project Managers will learn the simplest, yet powerful group facilitation techniques to get group consensus and complete today’s project in Scope, Cost, Quality and Time.

Facilitation is about empowering people to take control and responsibility for their own efforts and achievements - Trevor Bentley 1994.

Overview:

Group facilitation means leading a group of people from a current state to a better future state, that is agreed upon by everyone present in the room. A group facilitator does not participate in the discussion, they only lead the conversation, ask questions, ensures ground rules are set and followed throughout the time period allotted for the group event.

However, to achieve the most effective outcomes you will:

  • Look for and use the most appropriate processes for both the group and focus
  • Clarify the purpose
  • Design the session with the group
  • Question and listen actively
  • Ensure everyone has opportunities to contribute as well as challenge the participants to find the best results.

  • Effective facilitation is about working with people and assisting individuals with their interactions and discussion. For the group to get the best results it is important therefore to understand and value differences in people – including yourself. How people think, learn and operate are a few of these complexities. If you can understand and apply these basic principles to the development and delivery of your facilitation you will go a long way to improving both the experience and the results of the group.

Agenda:

  • History of Group Facilitation
  • Types of group facilitation and explanation
  • POST ITs, learn to use Post It to create Affinity Diagram or Cluster Diagram. An affinity diagram is a simple tool through which you can utilize everyone’s knowledge in the room around a question, get everyone to write their thoughts or solutions
  • LEGO, learn to use people’s thought, feelings, emotions and convert into Metaphors.
  • ASKING THE RIGHT QUESTIONS, learn to use the power of asking the right questions to get the right answers and right agreements.

This training is 70% practical and 30% presentation, so get ready for the fun though.

  • Funny case Studies
  • Group Exercises
  • Experiential Games and learning
    Lots of pictures and videos
