Serving Our Community

PMI Lakeshore Ontario Chapter - Community Outreach

The PMILOC-CO team’s vision is to champion project management and skills for social good and is aligned with the PMILOC General objective “Develop a growing and committed membership through providing valuable services and promoting these services within the community.”

Our mandate is to do good things for our communities within our geographical territory by supporting associations that can benefit from project management and make the world a better place one community at a time. Volunteering with the PMILOC-CO will prove to be the most personal and enriching experience.

Each year we strive to demonstrate the “Good things we have done” for our communities.

Depending on the duration of the voluntary service, this will earn up to Five (5) PDUs per calendar year. This involvement would qualify towards "Giving Back".

Community outreach programs give members the chance to take the lead in organizing service projects or working on specific initiatives or any number of things. They also learn to work in team settings with others. Volunteers can serve on project teams, help out with fundraising, run special events, deliver programs, mentor and more.

Ways in which we measure our actions

  • Leadership philosophies – using specific examples of these skills and how they were used to motivate project teams

  • Demonstrate our interest in continuing education and personal development as well as project management skills and techniques

  • Contribute to the continued development of tools, techniques, and best practices to enhance the profession

  • Demonstrate creative ideas/tools to maintain a balanced life approach

  • Demonstrate mentorship capabilities and effectiveness as a coach and mentor

  • Demonstrate personal integrity and promote integrity within the organization

  • Encourage innovative thinking and creativity

PMI Lakeshore Chapter do it again - Giving Back to the Community - Good tidings - December 5th, 2011

Lou Boccia delivered the $403 and approximately 30 lbs of food to the Fare Share food bank in Oakville. Ron Ziegler was very appreciative of the Chapter's efforts and the donation that we made.

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Lakeshore Chapter, I would like to thank the membership  and everyone  who made this drive a success. This will certainly help those in need at this time  of year.

Special thanks to Lou Boccia, VP Community Partnerships & Minal Nair, VP Marketing  Operations who  volunteered the night of December 5th and who greeted you with the warm  smile that made this happen!

4th Annual Golf Tournament - June 14, 2011

The 4th Annual Golf Event was another great success!

Because of the support and generosity of our membership we were able to raise $400.00 dollars for the Robert Land Community Association (RLCA). This money will be used to improve the quality of life and enhance social wellbeing for an entire North Hamilton neighbourhood.

"Our vision to become a 'Chapter of Excellence' has just begun with our first Global PMI award for the Outreach project, and as we scale the peaks of PMI excellence, our 'Outreach' should expand its sphere of influence to more academic, community and professional philanthropy."
- Ram Sriram, PMP, PMI Lakeshore Ontario Chapter Past President

"A job well done! Congratulations! The Chapter has come so far in so little time. It is a testament to the commitment and dedication of the volunteers."

Community Outreach Project

We have partnered with the Robert Land Community Association (RLCA) who require project management, strategic planning and organizational skills to develop an updated business plan to ensure long-term sustainability and future success.

The Outreach Project has completed the Stakeholder Input phase of this project. Thank you to all volunteers who participated in the Voice of Community Neighbourhood Blitz event on Sept 12! It was an overwhelming success!! We have had fantastic feedback from volunteers, the community and the Robert Land Community Association.
