PMI-Lakeshore Chapter is delighted to announce Mr. Alan Mallory (B.Sc., P.Eng., P.E., PMP) as the Opening Keynote Speaker for this year’s symposium.

Opening keynote SPEAKER - ALAN MALLORY

Alan is a well-known international speaker, author & professional development coach who is passionate about leadership and human performance. He has degree in engineering from Queen's University and has worked all over the world as a mechanical engineer and project manager developing intellectual property and custom machinery. His true passion however, is in working with people to reach new heights in the way we think and the actions we take. Alan has always had a keen interest in discovering what drives us to do what we do and how we can use this knowledge to improve our own lives while making a positive impact in the lives of those around us.

Alan is also a published author. In his 2008 publication “The Family That Conquered Everest” where he shares his experiences during his expedition to climb Mt. Everest with his family and how they were able to overcome all the challenges through proper planning, communication, teamwork and trust in each other’s abilities.

Alan has worked with many other PMI Chapters around North America with tremendous feedback. His programs are both engaging and entertaining with valuable project management strategies included throughout. His dynamic presentation style, interactive discussions and hands-on activates keep attendees on the edge of their seats. PMI-Lakeshore Chapter is delighted to announce Dr. Jackie Eldridge (Ed.D, M.Sc., B.Ed., B.A) as the closing Keynote Speaker for this year’s symposium.

Jackie Eldridge, Ed.D., is an experienced teacher, teacher educator, administrator, speaker and coach. She is passionate about inspiring & empowering leaders who are mindful agents for change. Her work in education, leadership and personal development is grounded in her belief that everyone can make a difference in the world when they are able to tap into their own understanding of self and others.

Jackie believes that every individual has the potential to touch lives through mindful leadership. Her doctoral research on the ethics of care demonstrates her core value of the importance of caring connections in all of life’s relationships.

Jackie received her Coaches and Leadership Certification from the Coaches Training Institute in 2011. She has led many Instructional Intelligence and Professional Development workshops across North America and abroad.

Jackie is also a Lecturer in the Master of Teaching Program at the University of Toronto Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE).!

 Bio: Ms. Graham is an SME in Organizational Change Management (OCM), Organizational Effectiveness, Program/Project and Portfolio Management, Process Re-design, and their related tools, techniques and strategies. She has extensive experience as a speaker, facilitator, coach, mentor, and trainer in the corporate environment, and has taught at Universities and Colleges.

Ms. Graham is an excellent communicator (both verbal and written) and has an excellent understanding of the “People Factor”. A sought after public speaker, presenter, coach and mentor, who is recognized as a strategic visionary, an effective decision maker and a proactive leader.

Larry LallTopic: Revealing & Defining the Hidden Layers – Your Keys to Success

Bio: Larry has been in the IT, Leadership and Management Consulting business for over 25 years.

He has successfully managed many projects and has combined his knowledge of people, technology and  processes to deliver value to his customers and employers.

Starting his career at Bell Canada designing, building and supporting applications and solutions, Larry has had a very diverse experience managing projects in infrastructure, application and service development, implementation and support. He has worked in over eight different business verticals, (e.g. Telecommunications, Information Technology, Retail, Manufacturing, Transportation, Financial, Education, Government – provincial and municipal, Conglomerate), public and private sector as well as several international assignments.  He has called Chicago, Rio de Janeiro, Kuwait and Toronto home over the last twenty years and has also done engagements in Seoul and the Caribbean.

ITIL and Prince 2 certified Larry has spent many years as a project manager just recently at Government of Ontario.

Larry is also the author of the book Thinking Breakthrough Thoughts and Taking Breakthrough Action and his upcoming book, Strategic Strategy: How to Deal with Permanent and Dramatic Change.

Ankush SethTopic: DevOps and Change Management in the Enterprise World

Bio: Ankush Seth is an IT and management professional with a strong passion for technology and an innate desire to constantly add business value through innovation and optimization. From hands-on development to founding and managing a start-up he has experienced all the aspects first hand. He has been fortunate enough to be part of several success stories in terms of conceptualizing products / services and working with the teams necessary to bring them to market. His work experience with SMEs as well as large enterprises like AT&T has played a big part in his overall ability to pursue an idea and what it means to deliver value.

Abstract: Topic: DevOps and Change Management in the Enterprise World

In today's high paced environment where customers/stakeholders expect quick turnaround and faster release cycles the DevOps model seems to be the way to go. However, strict change management processes (especially within the areas of release deployment) in large enterprises may outstrip the potential benefits.  In this session we will go over the DevOps implementation within the context of  an enterprise with mature/established processes and how one can potentially find a happy path between the continuous delivery goal of DevOps and the traditional checks and balances change management brings.

Gladys has traveled through North America facilitating seminars and delivering workshops on various aspects of business and technology.  She develops and presents training programs that focus primarily on growing people through attitude and behaviour modification, while enhancing specific bottom-line measurable results.  Specific, practical techniques are provided that can be used on a daily basis. 

Gladys has delivered over 300 courses of a wide variety courses and programs covering topics of Human Dimension courses, Effective Goal Setting, Team Building, Project Management, Business Analysis, Customer Excellence (internal and external), Effective Personal Productivity and Managing Change, Conflict & Communications effectively.

Abdul Naeem ShaikhMulti-dimensional Impact of Big-Data on Project Management - Opportunities and Challenges

Abdul has been a committed educator and practitioner. He has over 10 years of diversified experience in Project Management, System Analysis and Design, Teaching/Training/Facilitation, and Instructional design. He has graduate degrees in Computer Science and Information Systems. He passionately served, for 6 years, as Assistant Professor at the department of Computer Science, Ryerson University, Toronto, Canada.

He has taught 30+ MIS/Computer Science subjects in Canadian, and International, multi-cultural learning environments at graduate, undergraduate, and adult levels with diversified learners - this diversity of knowledge, and experience, has transformed the teaching and enabled to integrate the diverse perspectives into a coherent instruction. He has, also, provided consultancy services; and managed end-to-end project deliverables throughout project life cycle to ensure successful completion of the projects as per clients' requirements and expectations; and facilitated to formalize the project management, and software development (SDLC), methodologies including all necessary templates and other tools required to enable a strong project management practice under PMO.

Abstarct: Multi-dimensional Impact of Big-Data on Project Management - Opportunities and Challenges

The goal of this presentation is to take the audience into an instructional journey of Big-Data; it's impact on the Project Management and Project Manager; and exploring the possible opportunities, and challenges, to successfully manage the Big-Data initiatives. What is Big-Data? How the Big-Data is going to impact Project Management, positively or otherwise? Should we care about Big-Data as Project Managers? These are some of the questions that I will attempt to answer during the presentation.

Big-Data is generally referred to the collection of datasets, structured and unstructured, which are so large (terabytes and petabytes) that it is difficult to meaningfully process them using the normal database management tools and data processing techniques. The Big-Data includes: Business transactions, Management reports, Logs, Scans, Pictures, Videos; they may originate from Intranet, Extranet, Internet and Social Media sources. Now, as more and more companies are developing Big-Data products, or implementing Big-Data projects - for example, Amazon attempting to cross-sell relevant products when a customer adds a product into his shopping-cart, project managers are presented with new multi-facet challenges.

The multi-dimensional impacts of Big-Data on Project Management include: more Projects and better Project Management processes in terms of: Quantified Estimation, Good Quality Assurance, Effective Risk Management, and Effective Decision Making.

Mohammad Ali: PMO – Spearheading new communication norms for the organization

Bio: Mohamad Ali is the manager of Project Management office at TELUS. His team’s primary responsibility is the implementation of projects focused on new technologies and services for the TELUS network. He is also a trainer and a speaker who has a broad range of experience as a Program and Quality Management specialist.

Mohammad has a strong background in developing and implementing project management processes. He is a Project Management Professional (PMP) and Manager of Quality and organizational Excellence.

Abstract: Spearheading new communication norms for the organization

The encouragement and support of the executive sponsors is one of the major factors affecting the success or failure of any project. This point was strongly emphasised in the latest Standish Group Chaos report. To be able to effectively perform this function the executive leadership requires clear, concise and up-to-date project status reports. PMO leadership must execute on this responsibility by leading the effort to ensure that project communications must adhere to the norms of simplicity, clarity and relevance. This, however, may prove to be a tough act to accomplish given the challenge of meeting and satisfying the information demands of a diverse group of senior leadership team.

Abstract: Always Ship on Time: Agile Estimation for the Rest of Us

Among the biggest changes we see during the transformations we facilitate for our Agile coaching clients is the business leadership gaining a feeling of control, insight and predictability with their software development teams. This comes from the ability to control priorities through the use of the product backlog, but more important it comes from the team’s ability to accurately predict their schedule. Add on to this, the business leaders’ ability to gain insight into the effect of changing business priorities, and you have a vehicle for real change.

PMI Lakeshore reserves the right to cancel an event due to low enrolment or other circumstances which would make the event non-viable. If PMI Lakeshore cancels an event, registrants will be provided a full refund.

1. All registered attendees are required to notify the PMI Lakeshore Chapter of any cancellations by sending an e-mail message to cancel@pmi-lakeshore.org with your cancellation request. To expedite your cancellation, please include the transaction ID number from your receipt or the event code/program number that starts with "C193" in your request.

2. Cancellations received prior to the cancellation deadline will be eligible to receive a full refund, less an administration fee determined by the board for that event type.
